An initial ebook version was published as a trial run in late 2016. This 292-page printed version is completely updated and illustrated.

Veteran journalist Kevin James Shay witnessed Kennedy's funeral in Washington, D.C., as a boy and grew up in Dallas. He has researched the killing off and on since 1978, when eyewitness Bill Newman entered his college newspaper office and led him on a search.

The assassination of John F. Kennedy ranks among the biggest events of the 20th century, according to American historians and journalists. It is a tragedy that still has significant impact on society, particularly in people’s sense of loss and increase in distrust.

This work details what occurred between Kennedy’s 1960 presidential triumph and his assassination in a compelling narrative. The book incorporates recent research from conspiracy and lone-assassin believers, as well as from investigators who don’t classify themselves in either camp.

"An incredibly fresh perspective! Shay boldly and confidently takes the helm into a murky, dark sea of clues and eyewitness accounts of multiple plots to kill JFK in '63, conceived by convoluted alliances across the nation and overseas. He throws down the gauntlet to open new paths to the truth...'Rising Sun' is well documented cover to cover. This is professional old-school journalism at its best."
